TABATA and all other things that HITT

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is becoming increasingly popular as a way to get in shape and achieve desired fitness results. HIIT involves short bursts of intense exercise followed by rest or recovery periods. This type of workout is often seen as a more time-efficient way of exercising compared to traditional, longer workouts. There are many advantages of HIIT that make it a great choice for those looking to get in shape.

Advantages of HIIT

1. Burn more calories and fat. HIIT increases the amount of calories you burn during your exercise session and afterward because it increases the length of time you spend in your target heart rate zone. Studies have found that HIIT can burn up to 25-30% more calories than steady-state cardio.

2. Save time. HIIT workouts are usually shorter than traditional workouts, which makes them ideal for those with busy schedules. A typical HIIT session can last from four to 45 minutes (checkout one of my JFIT classes), depending on the intensity of the exercise.

3. Increase metabolism. HIIT can boost your metabolism during and after the workout, due to the intensity of the exercise. This means that you continue to burn calories long after the workout is done.

4. Improve aerobic capacity and health risk factors. HIIT can help improve your aerobic capacity and reduce health risk factors such as cholesterol, blood pressure and body fat. 5. Fun and challenging. HIIT is a great way to break up the monotony of traditional workouts. It can also be challenging and fun, which can make it easier to stick with the routine. Despite the many advantages of HIIT, it’s important to remember that this type of exercise is not suitable for everyone. It’s important to start slowly and gradually increase the intensity of the workouts. If done properly, HIIT can be a great way to get in shape quickly and efficiently.

In addition to HIIT, there are other interval training protocols such as Tabata, AMRAP, and EMOM that can help you reach your fitness goals.

Tabata Training: Tabata training is a form of HIIT that involves 20 seconds of near maximal effort followed by 10 seconds of rest. This type of interval training is great for those who are short on time since Tabata workouts can be completed in as little as 10-20 minutes (45mins, for one of my classes). This type of workout is great for boosting metabolism, increasing aerobic capacity, and burning calories and fat.

AMRAP: AMRAP stands for “as many reps as possible” and is a type of interval training that involves completing as many reps of an exercise as possible in a given amount of time. This type of workout is great for increasing strength and muscle endurance. And great for some "friendly" competition.

EMOM: EMOM stands for “every minute on the minute” and is a type of interval training that involves completing a certain number of reps of an exercise at the beginning of every minute. This type of interval training is great for improving strength and power.

Interval training protocols like HIIT, Tabata, AMRAP, and EMOM can offer a variety of health and fitness benefits. However, it’s important to remember to start slowly and gradually increase the intensity of the workouts. With the right combination of exercise and rest, you can make the most of your time and reach your fitness goals. How about Group HITT

Group fitness High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) These classes offer a challenging, full-body workout that can help improve cardiovascular fitness, burn calories, and build muscle.

One of the main benefits of HIIT classes is that they are highly efficient. Because the exercises are performed at a high intensity, the body continues to burn calories even after the class is over, a process known as "afterburn." This means that you can get a great workout in a relatively short amount of time.

Another benefit of HIIT classes is that they can be modified to suit different fitness levels. The intensity of the exercises can be adjusted to make the class more challenging for advanced participants, or less so for beginners.

HIIT classes also typically include a mix of cardio and strength training exercises, making them a great option for people looking to improve their overall fitness. They also are known to be cardiovascular health friendly classes as they elevate your heart rate, while challenging your muscles.

However, It's important to note that HIIT classes can be quite intense, so they may not be suitable for everyone. If you have any health concerns or haven't exercised in a while, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor before starting a HIIT class.

Overall, group fitness HIIT classes are a great option for people looking for an efficient, full-body workout that can help improve cardiovascular fitness, burn calories, and build muscle. They also tend to be more fun and engaging when you workout in a group. In the YEG area and wanna try one of my classes send me a message to come try one for free!
